I missed having a truck. So I got one. 2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 . I’ve been looking at them for a while, and Corona deals were too good to pass up.

And, thanks for stimulating the economy. It makes me buzz in all the right places.
And, nice truck! I like those a lot.

See, you said that, and I immediately started thinking up truck-themed Brittany Spears lyrics.

I love the ZR-2. We had a few of them come through when I worked at the GMC dealer.
If they put the 5.3 in that thing it would be the perfect truck.

I have ~7300mi on my ‘19 V6 w/nav and Bose (early Nov purchase). I just couldn’t with the diesel between the tip in lag and the hp - would not want to pass on a 2 lane with it. My truck is essentially stock besides tint and the GM LED bedlights. Not blinding, but factory type integration is nice as it’s tied into the cab bed light switch. I am going to add the remote entry, but it was debacle, so hadn’t gotten to it.

Mechanicals: DSSVs ride awesome, plenty of power - engine/trans combo is mostly
pretty well matched, handles really well for what it is. Decent mpgs - commute with it, so lots of mixed driving, getting 18.6mpg calculated overall. Can rotate in the spare (ZR2 wheel + Duratrac - but no TPMS). Late ‘19 build means I got the improved trans fluid factory fill, so no shudder.
Interior stuff: Apple car play is great (you can get it to BT, but wired is way easier - which sucks), like the infotainment in general. Good ergos for me (vs Taco), seats are comfy, good layout of controls.
Dislikes
Mechanicals: Diff gearing sucks - it needs to be 3.73s instead of the 3.42s. It hunts 7-8 in the 70-85 range, which is annoying as the 7/8 step is big (bigger than 6-7, thanks GM). Under that locks 8th in fine. Tires should be 33"s because they just should be, but takes work to fit them. T-case skid is a joke. It’s damn tall - wish it had that rear bumper step. Jack is barely capable (height). Headlights aren’t great. No fogs, wth? Late ‘19, so it got the junky short breathers on the rear diff, t-case, and trans.
Interior: Needs cooled front seats from the Denali lol. Needs auto down/up on all the windows. Charging pad is small. Wouldn’t have chosen a rear slider (standard). Door panel storage is weird (I don’t keep anything in my truck, but still). No push button start is an eyeroll w/$45k sticker.
I very much like it overall, esp for what I paid vs sticker. I haven’t really gotten to play with it offroad, but diff locks and tires should make it a willing partner. People have had issues with trans shudder, leaky shocks, and some minor stuff (interior rattles, etc).

LooseonExit said it better than I could. I mostly agree with his/her sentiments.
I bought mine used with 7k miles on it. Mine is also stock besides tint.
I share the sentiments about the DSSV dampers. They’re not life-changing, but they make the truck handle the road very well, both on and off pavement. It rides more like a modern SUV rather than a truck. Engine and trans is fine by me . I’m coming from a tuned MK7.5 GTI, so I can’t comment on the power, but it is adequate and I don’t feel like I need to ask for more (it handled 1300lbs of pavers in the bed just fine, hardly noticed they were there). Driving around, I am getting more like 17mpg, and that includes a lot of city driving and highway driving at 80mph. Mine is an early 19, so I did in fact have the trans shudder issue (probably why someone traded it in) . They’ve finally figured it out, so all I had to do was drop it off at the dealer across the street from me and say the word ‘shudder’, and that’s enough to make GM greenlight t he fluid swap (TSB 18-NA-355) without any testing/diagnosis. It’s been very smooth sailing from there, and if I’m not paying attention and just driving at a normal pace, I can’t even tell when it shifts through 5, 6, 7, and 8. Seats are comfy, the power lumbar support is nice, and with the 2019 and up you get the newest infotainment, which is definitely worth it if you’re looking between 2018s and 2019s (plus the heated steering wheel is cool). Very responsive touchscreen , and a good layout.
I do see the same complaints for ‘this truck is near $50k and it doesn’t even have push button start”, but I got mine for $33k, which is the same price as the last Silverado I had (2016, also used with 7k miles) , and this one has way more features, so I really can’t complain. Feel free to ask any questions!
